Legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto have issued a litany of issues that they want President Uhuru Kenyatta to handle before 2022 polls.
In an interview with the Standard on Thursday, a section of the Tangatanga troops listed three major issues they want Uhuru to tackle ahead of the polls.
Among them, the team wants Uhuru to explain contents of his handshake with ODM leader Raila Odinga, contents of the impending referendum and DP William Ruto's fate in 2022 succession politics.
Bureti MP Japhet Mutai said the major agenda for the meeting should also include the handshake between President Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila.
“As the Jubilee Party, President Kenyatta has never told us the position we should take on the handshake. We must have the terms of engagement with ODM,” said Mutai.
Soy MP Caleb Kositany, who is also Jubilee’s deputy secretary general said: “We want to have a PG so that we can discuss and get to know about the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and the handshake.”
He added that most legislators in the party wanted to deliberate on referendum proposals so that they can take a common stand should it take place.
“Right now there is the Big Four Agenda that need to be implemented, but there is no proper networking in government. Everyone talks but there is no unified direction,” said Sudi Oscar.
Uhuru has refused to discuss succession politics besides warning against early campaigns. He has also defended his partnership with Raila Odinga.
