Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino on Wednesday caused a storm in parliament after refused to apologize to angry members.
The lawmaker, who is known for his controversial nature, was asked by Deputy Speaker, Moses Cheboi was asked to withdraw a word 'devil'.
The legislator respected the Cheboi but he did not apologize. He insisted that there was no reason to apologize for what he had withdrawn.
“Mr. Speaker, I will not apologise. For what I'm I apologising? I have withdrawn but I will not apologise. Using the word devil is allowed in parliament,” Babu insisted.
The efforts of the Deputy Speaker to make him apologize proved futile when he stood his ground as his colleagues insisted that he doesn’t. The lawmaker caused more drama when he said even in heaven human bieings will not be forced to apologize. He look agitated as members reacted to his response to the Deputy Speaker.
“Even if you go to heaven, you are always given the freedom to decide and choose,” he said in his defence.
Owino has been hitting headlines in the past following a series of controversial incidences following his election into office.
He once exchanged blows with his colleague Charles Njagua aka Jaguar after they differed over President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
