Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has strongly condemned law enforcement officers who were called upon to calm down the situation at Maseno University on Sunday.
Maseno University on Sunday evening held a protest for what they termed as harassment from police officers.
The students blocked the busy Busia-Maseno Road leaving motorists and pedestrians stranded for hours.
Sources say some students had gone to Maseno Police Station to report a case where their fellow students had been attacked and injured by thugs on Saturday night.
However, the reporting students did not receive the help they needed from the police station and were instead locked up by officers who were at the station after they had a bitter confrontation.
The rest of the students decided to take it to the street when they heard the news that their colleagues had been detained.
Babu Owino who is a former student leader has been angered with how police officers who were called upon to calm the situation handled the whole matter.
Babu took to his Facebook to share a footage in which police offers were canning students while ordering them to walk on their fours.
The video said, "What law enforcement officers are doing to Maseno University students is WRONG and thus must be condemned in the strongest terms possible!"
