Lungalunga Member of Parliament Khatib Mwashetani has expressed disappointment over the manner in which police in his constituency are allegedly harassing boda boda operators.
The ODM-lawmaker turned DP William Ruto ally on Friday held a meeting in Lungalunga with the relevant authorities address the issue.
"I am greatly concerned that the police are harassing the boda boda riders in Lungalunga Sub-county," he said.
After the meeting, Mwashetani confirmed that the OCS together with the Assistant County Commissioner promised to intervene "so that our youth are given time to equip themselves with the necessary documents and attires so that they do their business of ferrying people within the law."
He commended the authorities for acknowledging that the boda boda sector is playing an important part in employing the youth and growing local economies.
The lawmaker further urged the riders to comply with the law and be good ambassadors in spreading the peace messages across Lungalunga.
He also met the new TSC Lungalunga sub-county director on his first day in our area.
"His appointment will solve many challenges that the teaching fraternity face in carrying out their duties in Lungalunga."
