James Orengo is serving his second term in office as Siaya Senator having been elected in 2013.
Orengo was re-elected in the same position on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket in 2017.
It is likely to be his last term in office as Senator, with all indications showing that he will vie for the Siaya gubernatorial seat in 2022.

1. Paul Amollo Otiende
The first time Rarieda MP is a man who can fit into Orengo’s senatorial shoes with ease.
Otiende can be referred to as a political greenhorn having entered the political stage only last year, but his contributions on the floor of the house make him one of the best debaters in the National Assembly today.
Like Orengo, he is an astute lawyer hence replacing his learned friend in the Senate is not farfetched.
2. James Opiyo Wandayi
The Ugunga lawmaker is the current chairman of the powerful Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the National Assembly.
As Chair of the public watchdog committee, Wandayi is gaining experience that will make him one of the most suitable leaders to slot into Orengo’s Senatorial shoes in the event that he goes for the gubernatorial seat.
