The party leader Musalia Mudavadi has since announced his bid in the same race, with Ruto's pending candidature already in the public domain as well.

Speaking on Milele FM's 'Kivumbi Show' Tuesday morning, ANC Secretary General Barrack Muluka said that the party is preparing to crush Ruto in the much anticipated election.

"Sisi kama ANC tunataka kukutana na Ruto kwenye debe mwaka was 2022 ili tumnyoroshe bar'abara (we are ready for him and will give him a historical defeat in 2022)," said Muluka.

So far, Mudavadi who is a former Deputy Prime Minister seems to be closing in on the DP after getting a number of strong endorsements recently.

The soft spoken leader was on December 26 endorsed by a number of Central Kenya leaders led by former Mukurweini lawmaker Kabando Wa Kabando during the Maragoli Cultural Festival in Mbale, Vihiga county.

He has since taken over as the opposition leader following the March 9 trice between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga.

This was also facilitated by the apparent exit of Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) leader Kalonzo Musyoka who was Raila's deputy within the National Super Alliance (NASA) lineup.

However, neither of the two leaders have officialized their bids.
