Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has laughed off Julius Malombe’s appeal against her August 8, 2017, election victory in the Supreme Court.
Ngilu said the former Kitui governor is wasting time and resources by appealing in the Supreme Court.
Addressing the press in Kitui town on Tuesday, Ngilu said though the Wiper politician has a right to appeal, he is wasting time since she was legitimately elected in the elections.
“My brother Malombe should stop these political theatrics and work with me in development,” Ngilu said.
Governor Ngilu stated that she has no political grudges against Malombe.
She said Malombe is experienced hence his expertise on matters of administration could help Kitui people instead of spending too much time in courts fight losing battles.
Malombe appealed the Court of Appeal's ruling that upheld Ngilu’s victory in the Supreme Court.
In his appeal filed on Monday, Malombe argues that the appellant court disregarded critical evidence he had produced against the High Court ruling that had upheld Ngilu’s victory.
Malombe appealed Ngilu’s victory on grounds that it was marred with illegalities and irregularities.
In April, the High Court dismissed Malombe's petition on grounds that it lacked merit.
The High court then slapped Malombe with Sh6 million fine as the cost for the petition.
