Cases of unsuspecting Kenyans being conned by conniving fraudsters of their hard-earned cash are rampant these days.
The fake gold syndicate that has been trending is yet another reminder of how entrenched the scam industry is.
Renowned comedian Felix Odiwuor better known by his on stage moniker Jalang'o nearly fell victim to fraudsters some while back.
In a live radio programme, he revealed how he received a call from scammers who wanted to know if he had paid his electricity bill.
He called home to ask if the bill had been settled and was told not yet.
Jalangoo then called the scammers to tell them that he had not received the bill, let alone pay.
They told him that his bill was ten thousand.
"I nearly fell into their trap. They called me and told me that they were going cut my power. They asked me if I had received my bill. I called home to ask if the bill had come and I was told it had not come. They asked me to send them ten thousand shillings. I told them I would send through the till number and that's when they hurled insults at me,"Jalang'o said.
Thankfully, the revered MC survived the attempt to defraud him.
Jalang'o asked Kenyans to be very careful and ask questions before sending any money.
"If you have not participated in any game, there is no way you can be the winner. So don't send any money," he said.
