Area chief Bernard Gesicho and Nyumba Kumi officials raided his house after a tip-off from members of the public that the pastor has been boiling chang’aa at his homestead.

“Members of the public alerted us and we raided. We were shocked to find over 100 liters of chang’aa and over 500 liters of local brew known as kangara,” said the chief.

He said they destroyed the pots that Kiriago uses to boil chang’aa and poured down the kangara which was yet to be boiled.

“We are not going to trust people who pretend to be preachers in the area because it seems these are the same people engaging in illicit trade. Crackdown in illicit brew must continue to weed out illicit brewers in the region,” he said.

He said the pastor was taken to Riana police station.

Gesicho called on locals to stop pretending to be Christians yet they are part of those engaging in illegal activities which the church doesn’t condone.
