The new political formation  United Green Movement Party on Thursday held its elections to constitute its Nakuru Chapter with several women taking up positions.

Mr.Eric Ogada was elected unopposed for the position of party leader Nakuru Chapter.

During the elections held in Nakuru Town, Mr.Wilson Kibet who served as the Interim Chairperson was elected for the same seat and will be deputized by Ms Rose Nyakiba.

Other leaders elected in various positions are Ms Margaret Wanjiku(Women Leader), Mr.Ben Omwandho (Secretary), Ms Gladys Musau(D/Secretary), Mr.Wilson Mulisia (Organizing Secretary), Ms Selina Kaunda(D/Org Secretary), Ms Winnie Lagat (Treasurer and Legal officer), Mr.Vincent Malala (D/Treasurer), Mr.Nehemiah Ng'eno (Youth Leader), and Ms Lucy Odinga (D/Youth Leader).

Party Coordinators at the constituency level were also elected to be in charge of organising party activities at the local level.

Speaking after the exercise, newly elected Party leader Nakuru chapter  Mr.Eric Ogada called on the elected officials to work toward realizing the goals and values of UGM Party in bringing sanity to Kenya's political arena.

"Kenya's political parties are characterized by the use of violence to intimidate opponents, lack of internal democracy and marshalling for support along ethnic lines. 

"But we as elected officials of UGM Party we must work towards changing this scenario. We have had problems in our political parties and that is why we came up with UGM to try and treat some of the problems" said Mr.Ogada.

UGM aims at bringing about change in the political arena through the 10-anchored principles and values which include grass root democracy, Ecological Wisdom, Social Justice and Equal Opportunity, Community based Economics, Non-Violence, Feminism and Respect for Diversity.

The new party also wants to ensure there is decentralization, sustainability, personal and global responsibility.

UGM currently has offices in 40 counties. It hopes to open an office in every county in a bid to change the political scene.
