A section of youths from Nakuru County has condemned the move by MPs to have an increment in their salaries terming it as greed.
The Parliamentary Service Bill, 2018, if passed into law, seeks to give the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) the powers to deal with the welfare of MPs, a move opposed by SRC.
Led by the county's youth chairperson Daniel Kimani, the lot said Kenyans are already struggling with the harsh economy and such a move would worsen the situation.
Kimani said increment of the MPs salaries would be a burden to the taxpayer.
The youths called on MPs to shun greediness and focus on development-the key responsibility they were elected for.
“As Youths in Nakuru County, we will not allow the greediness being shown by our MPs. Kenyans are already burdened and we cannot allow more," Kimani said.
They addressed the press in Nakuru town on Tuesday.
