Political analyst Danson Omari now says that the ongoing wrangles within the ruling Jubilee Party could be stage-managed by the most unlikely people for political mileage.
Speaking during an interview on Radio Citizen on Thursday, the commentator observed that it could be a plan by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto to smoothen Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
The alleged fallout between Uhuru and Ruto's camp was officially announced on Sunday when Ruto's ally and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen accused Uhuru's inner circle of conspiring to paralyse the DP's candidature.
According to Omari, however, this could be a plot to trap opposition leader Raila Odinga who has since reconciled with the President and fool him into minimizing his political moves, thinking that he will be facing a weakened opponent, to give Ruto better chances against him in 2022.
"Kuhusu kuvunjika kwa Jubilee, huenda huu ukawa ni ujanja kati ya Uhuru na Ruto kumweka Raila ndani kisha akose nafasi tena ifikapo 2022 ( it could be a plan to comfort Raila and tame him ahead of 2022)," said Omari.
Uhuru and Ruto's lieutenants have been engaging each other since then, with the latest encounter pitting Agriculture Cabinet Mwangi Kiunjuri and Aldai lawmaker Cornelius Serem who recently dragged Uhuru's family's name in the ongoing sugar scandal probe.
