Speaking on Tuesday, Babu declared support for Wine and his future ambitions, a relationship that has since landed him (Owino) in trouble with Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni.

He said that he will cross over to Uganda to observe Wine's campaigns in the approaching elections despite Museveni's threats to chop off his feet if caught in Uganda.

The lawmaker noted that he will do whatever it takes to join Wine, even if it means wearing a hijab and posing as a woman or putting on a ninja outfit to hide his identity.

"Museveni alisema atanikata miguu nikienda Uganda lakini election zikifika nitavaa hata buibui ama nguo za ninja niingie pale (Museveni threatened to chop off my feet but I will wear a hijab or a ninja outfit to get there if I have to)," he said.

Babu was speaking on Milele FM's Kivumbi show, Tuesday morning.

He claimed that Wine has since taken over as the leading opposition figure in the country, overtaking Dr Kizza Kifefe Besigye who was initially deemed to be holding the post.

Owino also promised to fund Wine's campaigns saying that he would go as far as holding fundraisers in Kenya in his honour and channelling the money to him in Uganda.

"Mimi nitamfadhili kama itabidi, tutamfanyia harambee Kenya (I will sponsor him, we will hold fundraisers in his honour in Kenya)," he added.

Wine who has been openly attacking Museveni has been been a target of the state. He has been arrested severally and manhandled by police officers not to mention blockage of his political functions.
