Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa could yet again be subjected to difficult times following a brutal rebuttal by leaders from Abagusii community in defense to Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i.
On Saturday in Kitale, Jumwa asked Dr Matiang'i to resign over fake gold scandal, arguing that he should explain why the house where suspects were nabbed was guarded by elite GSU officers.
"Dr Matiang'i must first resign . Let him tell us why the house was guarded by GSU. It's difficult for such a scam to happen without his knowledge," she said.
Even after the dragging of Dr Matiang'i to the scam, chief suspect Zaheer Jhanda has vindicated the minister, insisting that he was not aware of the gold scandal.
And leaders led by former KFF boss Sam Nyamweya, on Sunday accused DP William Ruto's camp of carelessness, adding that dragging Matiang'i to the scandal is a plot to demean him.
"We are aware of a scheme to taint our son Dr Fred Matiang'i as a corrupt fellow. They all know he doesn't condone nonsense and that's why they are bitter will him," he said.
"As Kisiis, we are not interested with her Kiuno (waist). Let her take it elsewhere. We want her to issue a comprehensive apology. We can't condone nonsense," he added.
Abagusii community leader Nairobi chapter Bernard Momanyi warned of major demonstrations in Nyamira, Kisii and Kuria in defense of Dr Fred Matiang'i.
"We know who are cartels and we shall deal with them. We shall organise major demonstrations in Nyanza soon if they continue with these unnecessary attacks."
