Kandara MP Alice Wahome has responded to the tirade made by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen on Tuesday, the lawmaker said that the leaders from Mt Kenya will not stop engaging in politics because President Kenyatta will not be contesting in 2022. She said that the region will have to choose a political direction before that time comes.
“We cannot be told to stop doing politics because the President will not be running come 2022,” she said.
She also said that their involvement in matters of politics has no effect on the development of the region. She insisted that MPs actions do not derail the Big Four Agenda.
“There is no cost of development because an MP does not implement projects,” she added.
Wahome also said that Jubilee leadership mirrors the leadership of the entire nation. She noted that Kenya will not progress if the ruling party continues to engage in endless wrangles. She further said that it takes the unity of the ruling party for the nation to realise it’s goals as far as development is concerned.
“The governance of a country is as good as the political party which is governing/ managing that country. The gov’t is supposed to lobby Members of Parliament and convince them about the agenda the gov’t has,” she noted.
