Migori County is set for a series of political rallies on Thursday and Friday, as opposition leader Raila Odinga comes visiting.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader is expected to tour some parts of the county to campaign for the party’s candidate for the vacant senatorial seat Ochillo Ayacko.
Apart from campaigning for Ayacko, he is also likely to make attempts to suppress the youthful opponent of Ayacko, Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) candidate Eddy Oketch, who is proving to be a real threat for the party.
Having dominated the region for decades, he will most likely use his political experience in a bid to sway the entire region to back Ayacko and keep the rival party at bay.
This way, the veteran leader will have avoided the embarrassment of losing a seat in his own homeland, more so to a young and largely unknown political newcomer.
He will as well touch on the latest unfolding in the political arena, specifically his newfound verbal war with Deputy President William Ruto, after the two traded attacks on each other over the weekend, with Ruto accusing him of plotting his downfall.
Also likely to be spoken about is his new referendum push.
