Deputy President William Ruto has hailed the Nakuru County leadership over it's determination to revive the dead pyrethrum sector within the county.
Speaking during a tour of the county on Friday, the DP hailed the county government under the leadership of Governor Lee Kinyanjui for distributing pyrethrum seedlings to farmers as it seeks to bring the sector back to its feet.
According to a statement on the Governor's Facebook page, the DP also lauded the county leadership for showing great interest in promoting coffee and avocado production.
"The DP also congratulated the county government for distributing pyrethrum, coffee and avocado seedlings to farmers, saying it will earn them an income and ensure food security," reads the statement in part.
Ruto made the remarks while addressing mourners in Kiamaina, Bahati sub county, during a mass for the family of John Karanja which lost 5 members in the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash earlier in the month.
Nakuru county lost 8 members in the crash which also claimed the lives of 28 other Kenyans.The mass was held at the St Michael's Catholic Church.
Kinyanjui added that his county representatives and administrators and area Member of Parliament have been working in unison to support the bereaved family.
