Mt. Kenya MPs will no longer appear in rallies organised by Deputy President William Ruto, a Nyamira MP has revealed.
With divisions rocking Jubilee party from inside, the latest ban reportedly by President Uhuru Kenyatta may escalate tensions in the ruling party.
In an exclusive interview with the Jubilee MP who spoke in confidence, continued attending rallies will be an open defiance to the President's wish.
"The president has often insisted that he is only interested in delivering the Big Four agenda. He says that politicking is over.
"And MPs from his stronghold have been banned from attending Ruto's rallies to show committment in delivering to Kenyans," he said.
Instead, the source adds, Uhuru will now want MPs from his backyard to be a living example to the rest of their colleagues by shunning 2022 debate for development.
At the Coast on Saturday, Ruto dismissed claims that he is loitering across the country adding that it is part of his duties at principal assistant of the President.
Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe, in an interview with the Standard, confirmed the latest development from State House.
"There is much coming. Mt. Kenya MPs will now be busy helping the president to deliver. No more rallies across the country."
