Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago resurfaced Friday after a protracted absence in the public eye.
Mandago attended a youth conference that was held at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly.
In a video shared on Citizen TV's YouTube channel, the governor said that the youth conference was aimed at sensitising the young people on the opportunities in the counties.
"In this country, we have many youths who have gone to university, technical colleges, and secondary schools. As governments, we must ensure that these youths are equipped with the necessary skills to ensure that they can depend on themselves. As the county government we have taken steps to take our youths to technical colleges so that they can get employed or employ themselves," Mandago said.
Youths from across the country attended the conference keen to bounce ideas off each other on how they progress in a competitive world.
The county boss said that people with technical skills are the ones who will drive the country forward and in achieving its development goals.
He also said that his administration was giving Uasin Gishu youths internship opportunities to ensure that they have experience for the job market.
