Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has proposed a punishment for embattled former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero who is presently facing corruption charges.
Khalwale in a video posted on his official Twitter account while addressing a gathering in Kakamega town says the least the government can do to punish the former county chief is to confiscate his property and sell.
He made the remarks in reference to the ailing Mumias Sugar Company which he claims Kidero mismanaged and left to collapse by allowing illegal sugar imports from neighbouring countries.
Kidero was previously the Managing Director of Mumias Sugar Company.
"The government should intervene and take away Kidero's property and sell," the former Ikolomani MP said.
He told Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa to convey the message to President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure Kidero's properties are sold to recover money that was lost at Mumias Sugar Company.
"Rashid, tell the President that Kidero's property should be sold."
Kidero's name has widely been mention in connection to the collapse of Mumias Sugar, a sugar miller that supported millions of families in Western Kenya.
The miller was grounded following the alleged importation of illegal and cheap sugar into the country, a development that swept away locally-made sugar from shops and supermarket shelves across the nation.
Kidero has however denied claims linking him to the collapse of Mumias Sugar Company.
