Dr Ruto is being accused by ODM Party of allegedly dragging the fight against corruption by 'intimidating' institutions mandated to handle the matter like the office of DCI George Kinoti.

And the Siaya Senator on Sunday came out guns blazing, accusing the DP of holding the president hostage in the fight against corruption. He said he will consider impeachment rather than going to court.

"The DP can also be removed for gross misconduct. The threshold for the removal of Deputy President on constitutional grounds is much lower than going through a criminal trial or prosecution,” Orengo said.

He added, “After his removal the President is allowed to appoint a new one with the approval of the National Assembly.”

Migori Senator Ochillo Ayacko accused the DP of commiting a criminal offense through obstruction of justice in the ongoing graft purge.

Others who joined the momentum include Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Senator Cleophas Malala and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, who doubles as ODM deputy party leader.

"Anyone who obstructs justice is committing a criminal offence. There is a need to move with haste and deal with Ruto for threatening institutions tasked with fighting graft,” he said.
