Whereas some of the netizens believe it was inappropriate for Jaguar to issue threats against foreigners carrying out their business in his constituency, some have supported him arguing that the move is necessary to boost the country's economy.

Jaguar was arrested outside Parliament buildings on Wednesday moments after the government disowned his remarks. The statement issued by the legislator has not been taken lightly by several countries including Tanzania.

A section of Kenyans wants the MP to issue an apology over his statement, arguing that the remarks may affect Kenya’s diplomatic ties with other countries. The netizens argued that the remarks put Kenyans residing in other countries at risk as other nations may retaliate.

Some Twitter users have applauded Jaguar’s arrest, noting that it was necessary to show the country’s stand against xenophobia. According to the netizens, the arrest should act as a lesson to other Kenyan leaders with the same intention.
