A Nairobi tycoon was on Monday arrested by anti-graft sleuths after he reportedly tried to bribe Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
The loaded man is said to have stashed a cool Sh1 million into his pockets to oil Sonko’s hands in efforts to win the governor in a business deal in the city.
The anticorruption watchdogs said Praful Kumar approached Sonko at his Kanamai residence.
"The suspect had gone to the governor's residence with an aim to bribe him so that he can get an approval of a hotel under construction in Nairobi," Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Coast region George Ojowi said.
Sonko said he will fight all corrupt figures in Nairobi.
"We are here to serve Kenyans in a transparent way. We support the President's war on corruption. Therefore, in Nairobi, we must also say no to corruption and the culture of impunity."
