The county boss dismissed claims being peddled by opponents that he has been lying to residents about the construction of the factory.

"The factory will cost taxpayers Sh5 billion and the projects is scheduled to start this year after the Senate Land Committee gave the project a nod," he noted.

The ODM allied governor urged local leaders to stop politicizing development projects which have been delayed saying there are procedures which must be followed before the project's construction starts.

"I can't wake up in the morning and start projects without involving residents. Some politicians must grow up and stop politicizing development issues," he added.

According to Ongwae, once the construction starts local youths will get jobs.

"Locals will be employed by the contractor to help in the construction of the sugar factory. I am appealing to local sugarcane farmers not to uproot sugarcane from their farms because they will be required to supply sugarcane to the factory," said Ongwae.
