The MPs, Ngunjiri Wambugu (Nyeri Town) and Kangema's Muturi Kigano say they are against the DP because of his decision to engage in early campaigns against development which President Uhuru Kenyatta is championing.

The two lawmakers have never been seen in any of Ruto's events- either in Central Kenya or outside the region.

They say they are against Ruto's style of politics because it conflicts with Uhuru's development agenda and national unity.

"Everybody in our area is enlightened and knows how to choose. I am not saying Ruto should not be elected. I am not opposing Ruto’s ambitions but the early campaign," Kigano told Sunday Nation.

He added that Ruto's continued campaigns will put the country on an elections mood a development that can eclipse the building bridges initiative.

Ngunjiri on his part said: "The TangaTanga people (MPs allied to Mr Ruto) have created a notion that anybody accompanying the Deputy President supports his ambition and those who do not attend his functions are opposed to his bid."

He said as long as the DP continues with campaigns, he will never be in his support.

Political analyst Philip Njau recently said Ruto's numerous countrywide campaigns will make Kenyans forget that the country has a serving president.

Ngunjiri is a mong MPs said to have established a campaign secretariat in Runda Nairobi to de-campaign Ruto ahead of 2022.
