The burial of Mzee Peter Musyoka Mairu, father of former VP Kalonzo Musyoka, was full of banters as leaders from all the political factions met.
The burial saw leaders associated with NASA leader Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka as well as the Jubilee wing sit side to side.
Though they tried to paint an image of a united front since the handshake between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, they threw verbal jabs the moment they touched the microphone.
It started with Majority Leader Aden Duale who hit out at ODM leader Raila Odinga over his proverbial crocodile that he refers to in narration of his journey to Canaan.
Raila says they found a mamba at river Jordan.
Duale said NASA leaders must stop referring to certain Kenyans as mambas (crocodiles).
However, when Senator James Orengo took the dais, he made a fiery speech dismissing Duale’s claims.
“My brother Duale, don’t be oversensitive. In politics if you are oversensitive, you are in the wrong business and if you have no story to tell, my brother just keep quiet. Crocodiles are not people,”Orengo said.
He revealed that when he met Uhuru at the burial, the President told him that he is bure kabisa ( he is a joker).
“When I entered here, the President told me that ‘wewe Orengo bure kabisa’ and I don’t take it literally because I know what it means,” Orengo said.
The burial was broadcasted live by KTN News.
