Just before Kenyans could forget  'Deputy President William Ruto impeachment' headline and focus on President Uhuru' Kenyatta's State of the Nation address 2019, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has re-introduced the topic.

In late March, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party while campaigning in Ugenya introduced the debate to impeach DP William Ruto.

Siaya Senator James Orengo said the party had strategies that were to be used to see DP Ruto removed from office before his term expires.

“I want to repeat here and now that the Senate together with the National Assembly, we want to bring a motion of impeachment to kick out DP Ruto from office, we cannot have a Deputy President who is mentioned in every scandal Orengo said.

However, Murkomen once again has laughed-off the plan by ODM, saying if they could not manage to beat DP Ruto in Ugenya by-election, it means their plan to impeach him was null.

"If you can’t beat him in your constituency how will you impeach him?" he tweeted.

It is hypothesized that the Ugenya by-election was a mirror of the rivalry between ODM party leader Raila Odinga and DP William Ruto.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala revealed that voting for an ODM candidate was directly supporting Odinga and the reverse, Ruto.

ODM candidate Chris Karan was defeated by Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) candidate David Ochieng.
