Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has asked politicians to keep politics out of the ongoing investigations into Sharon Otieno's brutal murder.
Haji also wants politicians to stop commenting on the ongoing investigations into former Garissa Finance Executive Idriss Mukhtar's attempted murder.
The DPP says investigations into the two sensitive cases is at advanced stages.
Speaking in Mombasa on Sunday, Haji said that politicians are likely to jeopardize investigations through the comments they are making.
He said that police are independent and should be allowed time to conclude their investigations.
"They (politicians) should stop making comments that could interfere with police investigations," he said.
Haji said that his office will act once the police files on Sharon and Mukhtar's case are forwarded to him.
"We will work on the files if there is water tight evidence from the police," he added.
Police in Migori and Homa Bay have intensified the probe into Sharon's brutal murder.
Three suspects are in police custody in relation to Sharon's murder.
The DPP says that anyone who police will be implicated in Sharon's murder will be arrested.
In Nairobi, investigatios into Mukhtar's attempted murder is on top gear.
Two key suspects, Mohamud Hussein Aden and Juliet Njoki are in police custody.
Last week, a key suspect, David Mwai, 27, died in police cells.
He was buried in Nakuru on Friday under tight security.
Governor Ali Korane is among people who have been quizzed in relation to the attempted murder.
