Embakasi East MP Babu Owino says he does not intend to be in office serving residents of the Nairobi constituency beyond 2020.
The outspoken lawmaker says his goal is to ensure he implements his manifesto and development goals by 2020 to allow him to re-organise himself for the Nairobi gubernatorial contest.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page when he met residents of Tasia estate in his constituency, the lawmaker is heard saying how he is determined to ensure his development record helps market his candidature for the Nairobi gubernatorial duel when 2022 comes.
"I don't intend to work as MP until 2022," he says.
"I want to make sure I do everything you want me to do for you by 2020 so that I rest for two years between 2020 and 2022. Your next governor should get ample time to rest."
Babu has consistently said he will contest for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2022.
It is still not clear who he will vie for the top seat with as Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has not indicated whether he will seek for a second term in office or not.
The only other leader who is keen on vying for the seat is Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja.
