Kisii County Governor James Ongwae is smiling man after doctors in the county suspended their strike.
The medics boycotted work one week ago protesting the county government's failure to implement the CBA.
The doctors addressing the press in Kisii town led by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Union (KMDPU) Nyanza chairman Dr Kevin Osuri and KMPDU secretary general Lameck Omweri announced the suspension of the strike.
"We have agreed to suspend the strike after a meeting with the county government over the doctors' CBA implementation. Doctors will resume work immediately but, not later than Monday next week," said Osuri.
He confirmed that the doctors were impressed with the county government's plans to ensure their CBA is implemented.
"Members of the public should now visit our hospital to seek medical attending because the strike is over. As officials representing doctors we have confidence that the county government led by Governor James Ongwae will not fail to implement the CBA," he added.
Mr Omweri on his part said doctors must be respected because they save lives.
The government should not wait until doctors go on strike to implement the CBA. Medics should be accorded respect as any other citizen," said Omweri.
The doctors boycotted job protesting the county government's failure to promote them, give an insurance cover and denied the chance to further their studies.
