Matiang'i speaking on Monday when he toured the National Youth Service headquarters in Ruaraka to inspection the production of new police uniforms expressed his happiness following the progress.

"New uniforms for police officers are ready because the plant produces 1,000 units daily. Government agencies should not import uniforms for the staff," he noted.

He assured that a system of tracking will be put in place to ensure government uniforms are made at the plant.

"As away of building this country and support manufacturing government agencies will have uniforms for staff made here in the country and not importing from foreign countries," he added.

The super minister noted that institutional uniforms will be made locally since the country is capable of manufacturing.

The government introduced new uniforms  in September 2018 in a move aimed at reforming the police force.

Matiang'i initiated the move when he was appointed the Interior Cabinet Secretary.

In 2013, he was appointed as the education Cabinet secretary where he also brought changes in the education sector.
