Last month the Supreme Court nullified the election of Mr Ahmed Kolosh Mohammed on an ODM ticket as the member of Parliament for Wajir West after a successful petition by Mr Abdirahman Ibrahim Mohammed of KANU party.
Momentum is gearing up for the upcoming by-elections in the area with the Mr Ahmed Kolosh ditching ODM and using Jubilee party for his re-election bid, ODM party has cleared Prof Mohammed Yusuf Elmi and KANU has cleared Mr Abdirahman Ibrahim.
The meeting between KANU chairman Gideon Moi and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday in Nairobi discussed among other things the possibility of fielding one candidate in the Wajir West Parliamentary by-elections according to the Nation.
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, who is also ODM director of elections, confirmed that the meeting which took over 4 hours had the two leaders discuss unity in Kenya and how they can work together in the Wajir West by-elections.
"It is true the two leaders met and basically what was discussed was how to bring Kenyans together. They discussed how they can work together in the Wajir West parliamentary by-election," Mr Junet, who was present at the meeting said.
Tiaty legislator William Kamket also said the two leaders discussed how they will work together in the Wajir West by-elections and that will form a basis of working together come 2022.
According to Kanu secretary general Nick Salat, the meeting was aimed at strengthening building Bridges initiative.
