Residents of Dekaharja ward in Fafi sub-county of Garissa are crying foul after the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) held a joint security operation together with officers from the Kenya Police.
The sting operation is said to have been conducted randomly where locals were allegedly beaten with many others sustaining serious injuries.
The operation follows an incident where suspected Al Shabaab sympathisers Kenya Defence forces in Galmagala area, where a number of the uniformed officers were injured.
However, no death was reported in the incident.
According to Kuno Mukhtar, a Dekaharja resident, KDF officers stormed the locality at the crack of dawn on Friday while beating anyone on sight with a bid to obtain information.
On the other hand, regular police officers arrested youths over alleged involvement in the attack.
"They came to our homes very early in the morning. They beat us while demanding to be told the real individuals behind the Galmagala incident," revealed Kuno.
"We are no longer safe here. Every now and then police attack us and arrest our youth," said another resident, calling on President Kenyatta to intervene.
By the time of going to press, two boys Zakariya Abdullahi Abdi Sheikh and Ahmed Hajji Siyad from Dekaharja ward were still missing. Reports indicate they were arrested by the police during the operation.
