He is already campaigning as if elections are less than 365 days away. Ruto has been busy touring the country and forging alliances with like-minded leaders who he intends to rely on for his campaigns when 2022 nears.

Among regions the DP is keen on bagging is Central region and specifically Kiambu County where President Uhuru Kenyatta comes from.

The county is vote-rich and the former Eldoret North MP is crafting a machinery that will help him harvest votes in the county that borders Kenya's capital, Nairobi.

So who are the leaders expected to lead Ruto's onslaught for votes in Kiambu?

1. Kimani Ichung'wa

The MP is on record having said he is unapologetic over his support for Ruto. He is outspoken and has everything that it takes to campaign for the DP in the county. He is young, just like Ruto and this age factor makes both of them share so much in common - politically, economically and socially.

2. Moses Kuria

He is the MP for Gatundu South where Uhuru comes from. Just like Ichung'wa, Kuria is young, articulate and can charm crowds in whichever way he wants. Although he approves the handshake between Uhuru and opposition leader Raila Odinga, he has always been in the company of the deputy president whenever he tours Kiambu. He says Central Kenya should vote for Ruto to "pay his political debt" after Rift Valley voted for Uhuru in 2013 and 2017.

3. Isaac Mwaura

The Nominated Senator is another close ally of the DP. He subscribes to the ideology that Kenya, in 2022 must allow the "young and hustling" Ruto to take over the presidency. Mwaura has more than ones said he is ready to campaign for the deputy presidency when 2022 comes.
