President Uhuru Kenyatta has praised Rosemary Odinga and fingered her as an example of a resilient young person who could start a business despite coming from a family with a big name.
Speaking during the KCB Foundation 2jiajiri Youth Empowerment Program, Uhuru said Rosemary started her own business and that is the way for the young people to go.
"Take the case of my younger sister Rosemary who started her small snail farming business. I don't know how the snails are eaten, but I hear they can be eaten," the President said.
The head of state was encouraging the young people to think outside the box and not only waiting to be employed.
He urged the youth to drop the mentality of quick riches and instead be resilient and start small.
“Success in business and being a successful entrepreneur is not how fast you make money, it is being dedicated to what you do, providing good service at the right price,” the head of state said.
During the function, Uhuru also defended his move to appoint 91-year-old Moody Awori into a board member insinuating young people are greedy to become quick rich hence stealing public coffers.
“I am being criticised for appointing a 91-year-old... put yourself in my shoes. Tumeona vile watu wakipewa kazi hizo vile wanafanya. Afadhali niweke mzee anichungie hiyo pesa...aaah mniwache bwana,”Uhuru said.
