Muslims in Kenya have long viewed Saudi Arabia with utmost respect given that the home of Islam, the holy city of Mecca, is found in the kingdom.
Unfortunately, Saudi Arabia has not lived up to its status as the home of a holy city.
The kingdom has hit international headlines all for the wrong reasons.
A dissident writer Jamal Kashoggi was brutally killed in Saudi's consulate in Turkey after undergoing unspeakable torture in the hands of the kingdom's intelligence agents allegedly under the instructions of Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman (MBS), the kingdom's de facto leader.
Initially, the Saudis denied any involvement in the disappearance of the writer but after intense pressure from the international community they admitted that he had been killed in the consulate.
This is not the first time that Saudi Arabia has been in the headlines over gross human rights violations.
It has been engaged in a murderous military campaign in Yemen that has resulted in the slaughter of innocent victims.
Muslims in Kenya who care about human rights and freedom must speak out against Saudi Arabia and call for it to conduct itself in a manner consistent with Islamic teachings.
Islam is a religion of peace and not the kind of chaos and death that the country is unleashing.
