Apart from maize and rice, cassava are the third known sources of calories. The root vegetable can be prepared in many ways; they can be fried, boiled or even baked. The root vege contains hydrogen cyanide, which without proper processing can be very poisonous. Many people who eat it raw risk accumulating the concentration of cyanide in their body which can damage their thyroid hormones and brain nerve cells which regulate movement. Someone can be struck with a sudden irreversible paralysis from eating it raw.

Sugar cane is very sweet. However, it can be dangerous when eating one that has been stored for too long and accumulated molds. Such sugar canes form a poisonous fungus, artbrinium. When a kid eats this fungus, it can cause long term neurological disease or even death. The fungus’s side effects include; vomiting, convulsions, coma and spasms among many others.

Potatoes can be poisonous when green or sprouted. In this state, their toxin, solanine becomes risky for human consumption. Therefore, avoid eating them when green or sprouted. Its toxin causes side effects such as stomach pain, vomiting, hallucinations among many others.

Litchi are sweet and tasty fruits. However, when unripe, they contain harmful toxins that are dangerous in the human body as they can cause your blood sugar level to reduce to extreme levels. More so, when taken angry or with a malnourished kid, they are also toxic. They cause fever, convulsions and seizures among malnourished children.

A lot of bean species have phytohemagglutinin toxin. However, this toxin concentration is high in the red kidney beans. Fortunately, the toxins concentration are reduced when cooked. The toxin’s side effects include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea which can cause stomach pain.
