A man believed to be a foreigner was on Friday evening arrested in Taita Taveta for allegedly shooting at loudspeakers in a local mosque during prayers, RTN Somali TV reports.

The unidentified foreigner is said to have walked into the mosque with his pistol and aimed at the speakers on claims that they were too loud.

He shoot at them destroying the equipments instantly even as worshippers watched I disbelief at the mosque. His identity is yet to be established.

"Man armed with pistol walks into a Taita Taveta (Kenya) mosque during Fajr prayers, destroys the speaker. He said the call to dawn prayers “was too loud.” He has since been apprehended and arrested," the TV reported.

A furious lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, who is an advent Muslim, demanded to know on Twitter the number of bullets fired by the man to the speakers.

"How many shots did he fire to destroy the mosque's loudspeaker?" he asked.

Muslims across the world are in the home stretch of the holy month of Ramadhan, which is set to end this coming week. There will be Idd-el-fitr celebrations on Friday.

Kenya allows freedom of worshipping and the man could be in for trouble. On Thursday, President Uhuru Kenyatta visited famous Jamia Mosque in Nairobi where he insisted that he will ensure Hajji becomes a public holiday soon.
