Following a failed date with the Senate's Public Accounts Committee, Garissa Finance Committee on Tuesday morning held a crisis meeting over audit queries.
In a closed-door meeting, the county's Department for Finance and Economic Planning met executive officials comprising mainly of County Executive Committee (CEC) members and Chief Officers at a Garissa hotel.
Led by the county CEC for Finance Hon. Roble Nuno and Chief Officer Ibrahim Malow, they deliberated on key issues regarding sectoral plans, monitoring and implementation of Garissa County Government projects.
The major points of contention were audit queries and the formation of an audit committee.
By the close of day, the meeting had reached resolutions regarding the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) committee membership and the establishment of an Audit Committee as a performance management strategy and enhancing transparency and credibility in the implementation of projects.
