A 21-year-old man was on Monday arrested for allegedly defiling a 17-year-old mentally challenged girl.

The man is said to have been working as a houseboy at Mukalala village, Yatta, in Machakos County.

The incident was confirmed by Kithendu sub-chief Festus Musyoka who said that the man lured the girl and took her from Musingini area to Mukalala where he allegedly defiled her.

"I together with the are MCA were notified about the incident where the man had taken the girl from Musingini up to Mukalala and defiled her. We went and arrested him and handed him over to the police," said Mutua.

Mutua said that the girl was taken to hospital for examination where it was confirmed that she had been defiled.

The sub-chief condemned the act, noting that defilers will not be spared.

"This girl has a mental problem and yet the man didn't spare her. Anyone found defiling our girls won't be spared, he will face the full force of the law," he said.

He urged residents not to cover up defilement incidents and instead report them immediately.

The man is being held at the Matuu Police Station and is set to be arraigned in court on Tuesday.
