Ruto on Friday donated a passenger van to the Kakamega County Bodaboda Sacco, which was launched by former area Senator Boni Khalwale on Saturday.

Reacting to the same, the former Budalangi lawmaker lauded both leaders for the initiative, terming it a major step towards realizing youth empowerment and self-reliance.

"Superb work there brother Boni Khalwale and H.E William Ruto. This is the face of empowerment for our youth. The face of development mashinani," he tweeted on Sunday.

In a tweet after launching the van, Khalwale thanked the DP for the vehicle, terming it a great delight to the bodaboda community.

Ruto also used the Kakamega tour to welcome Khalwale into the ruling Jubilee Party from the opposition's Ford Kenya bloc where he was the Deputy Party Leader.

At the function held at his Malinya backyard in Ikolomani, Khalwale noted that the party is a community block that lacks what it takes to make a national effect in the approaching polls.

"Today, to the delight of Bodaboda riders in Kakamega, I launched their first commercial vehicle. Thank u William Ruto for supporting the members of Kakamega County Bodaboda Sacco," said the vocal ex-parliamentarian.
