Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is rich.
The former Devolution Cabinet Secretary’s estimated net worth is over Sh160 million with liabilities that total to Sh80 million.
In a past interview, Waiguru said that she is not as wealthy as many people think whenever her name is mentioned anywhere.
“In terms of assets, including this house which is on loan, I’m worth Sh160 million and the liabilities total to Sh80 million. The net value is, therefore, nothing to write home about,” she said.
She also revealed that she started living a good life even before joining the political arena, contrary to claims that she swindled public funds.
She also said that she drove a Mercedes Benz even before she landed a job in the government.
Waiguru, who once worked at the World Bank and as the Assistant Vice President at Citi Group, has invested in different sectors of the economy.
Recently, she threatened to sue IPSOS Synovate after she was ranked the second most corrupt person in the nation after Deputy President William Ruto.
Waiguru maintained that she acquired her wealth through the right channels.
She is the first woman to be elected governor in her region.
Some of the properties linked to her name include a house in Runda, a fleet of cars, hotel along the Eastern Bypass and house in Kitusuri.
