They went crazy with a bible verse that mocks the leaders’ action to make the lives of the poor hard.

The bible verse, Isaiah 10: 1-4, warns the lawmakers who write laws that make life hard and allow others to steal.

Kenyans used the bible verse to send a message to the MPs that they will be punished by God for making unjust laws.

Isaiah 10: 1-4 says: “1 - Just look at those lawmakers who write evil laws and make life hard for the people. 2 - They are not fair to the poor. They take away the rights of the poor and allow people to steal from widows and orphans. Lawmakers, you will have to explain what you have done. 3 - What will you do then? Your destruction is coming from a faraway country. Where will you run for help? Your money and your riches will not help you. You will have to bow down like a prisoner. 4 - You will fall down like a dead man, but that will not help you. God will still be angry and ready to punish you.”

President Kenyatta’s proposals to Finance Bill, 2018 were on Thursday passed by the National Assembly.

The president had recommended that the proposed 16 per cent VAT on petroleum products be reduced to 8 per cent and he also proposed to increase tax on some financial services in order to raise more revenue.
