Embattled Migori Governor Okoth Obado may have received a major political blow after the candidate he was rooting for lost in the just concluded Migori senatorial race.

The county boss was reportedly supporting Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) candidate Eddy Oketch, instead of rallying behind Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Dr. George Ochillo Ayacko.

As a confirmation that Obado was behind Oketch in the senatorial race, the FPK candidate got 14, 291 votes against Ayacko’s 8, 680 in Uriri, which is Obado’s home constituency.

Following Ayacko's win, Obado will have difficulties working with the new Senator, if he is acquitted from the murder case linking him to the death of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno, and her unborn baby.

This is because the two were rivals in the gubernatorial race last year. The rivalry may lead to a standstill in the operations at the county, as the duo try to outdo each other.

The county has been without a Senator since June this year after the death of Ben Oluoch Okello. The new Senator may start unearthing scandals in the Migori County government, if any, a thing that may not augur well with the county chief.

In plain terms, Obado may have a difficult time working with Ayacko, owing to their different political ideologies.
