Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has urged the government to tame corruption in order to win the war against terrorism.
Kilonzo Junior said corruption proceeds could be funding terror activities.
He argued that terrorism will remain a threat unless corruption is eliminated.
Kilonzo Junior said terror suspects could be colluding with some government officials to smuggle deadly weapons into the country.
“The first step in fighting terrorism and other serious emerging crimes is to deal with corruption,” Kilonzo Junior said.
He made the remarks during a live interview on Milele FM on Sunday.
The senator said the government should address unemployment, especially among the youth.
Kilonzo Junior said the unemployed youth desperately fall to terror and criminal activities.
He said the government should deploy more specialized forces to Kenya's border with Somalia to curb terrorism.
The senator lauded security forces for their quick response during the terror attack at DusitD2 hotel complex in Nairobi.
The terror attack left 21 people dead and others injured.
