A woman in Nyeri is in mourning after her ex-lover killed her only son and buried the body in the forest.
Ms Felista Waithera's 11-year-old son is alleged to have been killed by her ex-lover Charles Muriuki.
Muriuki on Friday directed detectives to a spot in the Mt Kenya Forest where he had buried the standard six pupil's body.
Waithera who was in great pain and tears went on her knees and begged Muriuki to explain why he took the life of her only son in such a brutal manner.
However, the suspect did not utter a single word to her as he couldn't face her.
“How did I wrong you for you to kill my son?” asked Waithera.
The pupil, Gideon Kang’ethe, who was a student at Kirigu Primary School in Karatina, Nyeri County, went missing last week on Saturday.
Mathira East Sub-County Police Commander James Barasa in an interview with the Nation on Friday said the suspect and the deceased's mother were lovers but had broken up. He further noted that they suspect Muriuki committed the crime in a revenge mission after he was dumped.
“This is murder. The mother of the boy was a girlfriend of the suspect. She had decided to leave him and we suspect he killed the boy as revenge,” said Barasa as quoted by the daily.
