The outspoken politician announced his move on Friday in a political event attended by DP Ruto in Malinya, Kakamega county.

Speaking to hivisasa on Saturday, the locals expressed pleasure and hoped Khalwale will be an advantage to the DP’s presidential ambitions.

“That is a huge plus for us and we now have the authority to command a section of the Mulembe votes come 2022,” said Joy Rotich, a DP Ruto diehard on Eldoret’s Oginga Odinga street.

“That has brought a top cream minded politician to our camp and I believe his vocal antics will really push the DP’s efforts to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta,” noted Edward Kosut, another local.

“We were really expecting that move because Dr Khalwale has been  openly dining with the DP for a while now: so I know that our political nemesis are not pleased with the move but here we come and our march to state house in 2022 is unstoppable,” added Hillary Maiyo, an ardent DP supporter outside Eldoret’s Orange house.

“We hope that Khalwale will help the DP to win the confidence of a majority of the Mulembe electorate,” noted Elvis Korir, also a local in the town

Khalwale had been warned by his immediate former party Ford Kenya to desist from associating with other political camps.

But he dismissed the warnings by decamping to Jubilee and vowed to aid DP Ruto in his attempt to become Kenya’s fifth head of state in 2022.

Political pundit Elvis Koech who is based in Eldoret described Khalwale’s move as politically poisonous to Ford Kenya and political advantage to DP Ruto’s camp.

“It is of no doubt that Khalwale commands a notable section of western’s votes so he is an advantage to DP Ruto’s camp,” Koech explained.
