Itumbe Lutheran church members in Kisii County have been left in a shock after their Pastor disappeared with over Sh200,000 that had been collected through a fundraiser that was aimed at uplifting the face of the church.
According to some of the church members, the pastor went missing on Friday few minutes after the fundraiser was over and the money was to be taken to the nearby bank by three of the church bank account signatories.
“The pastor left after counting the money and said he was going to the washroom on Friday evening only to disappear with the money that had been raised by a section of the church members as well as guest of honour” said Elijah Mokandu one of the Church bank account signatory.
Mokandu further added that they have since Friday, been calling the pastor identified as Evans Monari but both his phones are off and no family member has a clue where he vanished to.
Confirming the incident, Area chief Henry Mirera said that he has already received the information and a section of church members have already recorded statements at Ogembo Police Station and they are yet to know why the pastor disappeared and where he went to.
“It’s a shocking incident as the Pastor was a dedicated man of God and we believe he will be arrested for the same,” said Mirera
