Garissa Township MP Aden Duale snubbed a meeting with locals even as the debate on the controversial VAT bill gets hotter.
The legislator is reported to have promised to visit Waberi residents over the weekend, a meeting that he evidently skipped without issuing any communication.
The frustrated residents who stood in the scorching sun said Duale has done them the unthinkable by making a false promise that went unfulfilled.
They then 'cursed' the legislator, warning him that unless he honors the visit, they would never forgive him.
They gave him a month's time as the deadline, failure to which they would send a delegation to him.
"We are disappointed. He promised to come here on Sunday but failed. We are telling him to fulfill his promise or we send a delegation to Nairobi," said an elder, who only identified himself as Noor.
Though the MP's failure to turn up still remains unknown, it is speculated that he might have intentionally skipped the meeting in fear of the elder's wrath over his key role in pushing for the passing of the controversial VAT bill that has since become law.
