There was drama on Wednesday evening at Raganga village in Kitutu Chache South, Kisii County after a middle-aged man was caught in the act with his neighbour's daughter.
It is alleged that the suspect identified as Pius Mong'are lured the girl into his house after giving her 'busaa'.
According to the girl's mother Dorine Nyaboke, she waited for her daughter to return from Mong'are's homestead in vain.
"Mong'are called my daughter claiming he was sending her to a shop to buy him airtime but, unfortunately, he ended up giving her 'busaa' before he lured her into his bedroom," said Nyaboke.
Nyaboke said she went to call her daughter only to find them busy doing sex.
"I stormed the bedroom and caught them red handed in the act. He tried to escape in vain because members of the public responded quickly to the alarm I raised," she noted.
Area assistant chief Simon Mbwayo said the suspect was clobbered by angry residents before Nyumba Kumi officials rescued him.
"It was a bad boxing day for Mong'are because he was beaten like an astray dog. His beating should serve as an example to other men," he said.
The chief said the suspect was taken to Nyakongo police station for court processing.
